About Me

A bit about me and my love for Ragdolls

My name is Tina and I live in Basingstoke, Hampshire with my 6 cats 6 bantam chickens and two goldfish, and of course my husband.

The first time I saw a ragdoll cat was at a cat show in 1990 and I instantly fell in love.

From that moment on I knew I just had to own one for myself and immediately set about finding and buying one. Little did I know....................

My first Ragdoll was called Tanika, but unfortunately due to my lack of experience I didnt buy well.

Tanika was unwell virtually from day one and I spent many weeks travelling back and forth to the vets. Eventually I rang another Ragdoll breeder for help and she very kindly volunteered to do all she could to help me. I have never been so grateful in my life and ended up purchasing one of her kittens to show and breed from. I called my new kitten Lacey Mittens and she was absolutely stunning.

Lacey and I started showing with the CA and she won many rosettes and did really well. I didn't have such good luck with breeding from Lacey.  We took her all over England trying to find the perfect boy for her, but I later found out, when I had given up all hope, that Lacey rolled over when ever a boy came near her.  Just not the way to do it!! Lacey never did have any kittens with me.

My love for Ragdolls has never diminished and a few years on, my husband bought me Diablo my pet boy. Diablo is nearly nine years old and despite his size (BIG) he is still mummies little soldier. He is the handsome chap on my front page.

Having moved into a bigger house with a lot more space, I decided to try breeding Ragdolls again. I bought my first girl from Nikky Hillman (Valleycat ragdolls), I can remember going to see Nikky and stepping in the door to see this little kitten skidding around the corner to greet us. The kitten sat on my husbands lap the whole time we were there, but from that moment on to this day she hasn't sat on his lap once.  :-) It was love at first sight for both of us and so our first breeding girl, who we called Trinity, made the journey from Wales back to Hampshire that day.

In 2006 we had the arrival of our first litter of kittens. Despite her small size Trinity had five healthy kittens. I have no idea where she kept them all. My husband says she is part cat, part tardis.

Unfortunately Trinity developed a bowel disorder after having the kittens and had to be put on steroids. My vet advised me to have her spayed, so it was back to the start again.

All of Trinity's kittens grew up to be healthy and full of character and we managed to find super homes for them all.

I enjoyed the whole experience so much I decided to buy two more breeding girls, Happytime Appleby, (Abbey for short) and Filensio Angel-Eyes, (Paisley for ...er.....not exactly short.)

There is an old saying that goes along the lines of never having enough of a good thing, so when a couple of months later Happytime Frosted Shima arrived, no-one, least of all my husband was surprised.......
